Being an educator is an amazing privilege and one that I don’t take lightly. After having spent a decade in the hospitality industry, and understanding the value of developing a career versus just simply securing a job, I feel a strong responsibility to help mold the next crop of hospitality professionals. At the conclusion of every semester, my goal is to have helped students get one step closer to becoming a successful professional in the field of hospitality management. From the very first day of class, I create a positive learning environment by exuding passion for the subject matter and getting everyone excited to be learning about the service industry.

Theoretical Approach, Experience, and Temperament

Hospitality curriculum, unlike many other learning disciplines, should not rely on theory based practices and the memorization of specific content. I regularly promote conceptual learning by weaving in real life experiences and incorporating current trends into my classroom. My students appreciate the practical application of what I'm sharing, but most importantly they are able to apply what they’ve learned, rather than just simply memorizing a vocabulary word.
