(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • June 6, 2016)—Delaware County Community College commemorated the 34th year of service for the New Choices Program during an alumni dinner at DiFabio’s in Media on May 5. In addition to celebrating the impact of New Choices, State Representative Bill Adolph (R-165) was honored for his tireless commitment to the program, and Theresa M. Agostinelli, MSW, LCSW was honored as Alumna of the Year.

The New Choices program has been an excellent resource for single parents, displaced homemakers, individuals in transition, and vulnerable adults who seek additional training to further their careers.  For over three decades, the program has allowed these individuals to achieve their career, educational, and personal goals; build confidence, assertiveness, and decision-making skills; and find meaningful employment and improved economic security.

Especially in an era where there is still such economic insecurity and the job market is still so chaotic, New Choices helps to provide economic stability to families throughout Pennsylvania,” Adolph said at the event.

Agostinelli is a prime example of the success of the New Choices Program.  A 1997 graduate of the New Choices Program and a 1999 graduate of Delaware County Community College, she is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an Adjunct Sociology Professor at Immaculata University. She also serves as an appointed member of the Delaware County Board of Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities, the Advisory Board of the Delaware County Children and Youth Mental Health Cabinet, and the Delaware County Suicide Task Force.
